In connection with tightened security measures, the Police Authority has introduced a bag ban at certain events in Sweden. Here we explain what applies and how it may affect your event visit.
What does the bag ban entail?
The bag ban means that visitors are not allowed to bring bags to event venues where the ban is in effect. This applies regardless of the size of the bag or purse – even smaller handbags are normally covered by the ban.
Where does the ban apply?
The Police Authority decides on a case-by-case basis which events are covered by the bag ban. The ban usually applies to larger public events, such as:
-
Concerts
-
Sports events
-
Festivals
-
Trade fairs or public celebrations
Information about a specific event covered by the bag ban is provided in the event description or on the organizer's website.
Are there any exceptions?
Yes, some exceptions may apply, for example:
-
Medical reasons: Visitors who need to bring medical equipment or similar items can often receive an exception upon presentation of a certificate.
-
Diaper bags: Some organizers may allow diaper bags if the child is present and the need can be verified.
Contact the organizer well in advance of the event if you need an exception.
Is there storage available on site?
It varies between different arenas and events. In many cases, there is no storage available on site – you are responsible for leaving bags at home or in another secure location.
No refund if entry is denied
If you do not comply with the bag ban and are denied entry, the ticket will not be refunded. Therefore, we recommend that you carefully read the information on your ticket and event page before your visit.
